A Note on Travel Post-Pandemic…
It’s no secret that the travel industry has been one of the most heavily affected sectors during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. In a matter of a few months, it’s quickly led to industry-wide service suspensions by various airlines in response to global lockdown orders, reduced demand and efforts to curb the spread. As a result, it’s devastated world economies–especially those that rely on travel and tourism. We have no idea what travel post-pandemic will look like…
So even when travel becomes possible again, you may be hesitant to book flights, go on road trips and even plan local staycations for some time. But when you’re ready for it, our beautiful world will be there for you to explore. And when the time comes for your first travel post-pandemic, know that you’re doing a good thing. Not only for your wanderlust, but for the world and its global recovery efforts. A quote from a recent Condé Nast article puts it best: “Travel is a luxury – but it is also an investment in the wider world, in communities and ecosystems outside our own.”
A Little Inspiration…
See below for some of my favourite travel inspo quotes. I hope they get you excited to travel again and remind you of all the good things left to discover in this world we call home.
I would rather own a little and see the world than own the world and see a little of it.
Once you have tasted the taste of sky, you will forever look up.
I can’t think of anything that excites a greater sense of childlike wonder than to be in a country where you are ignorant of almost everything.
Blessed are the curious for they shall have adventures.
A mind stretched by new experiences can never go back to its old dimensions. Travel. Learn. Grow.
Every trip is lived three times: when you dream of it, when you go, and when you remember it. (Original, in Italian: Ogni viaggio lo vivi tre volte: quando lo sogni, quando lo vivi, e quando lo ricordi.)
It’s a big world out there, it would be a shame not to experience it.
The world is our playground, so let’s enjoy life and make memories.
Life’s not meant to be lived in one place.
Experience, travel…these are an education in themselves.
We have nothing to lose and a world to see.
Travel serves to adjust imagination to reality, and to see things as they are rather than imagining how they may be. (Original, in Spanish: Viajar sirve para ajustar la imaginación a la realidad, y para ver las cosas como son en vez de pensar como serán.)
Maybe it started that way. As a dream. But doesn’t everything? Those buildings, those lights, this whole city. Somebody had to dream about it first. And maybe that’s what I did. I dreamed about coming here, but then I did it.
It seems to me that the natural world is the greatest source of excitement; the greatest source of visual beauty; the greatest source of intellectual interest. It is the greatest source of so much in life that makes life worth living.
Above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you.
To travel is to discover that everyone is wrong about other countries.
I love the feeling of being anonymous in a city I’ve never been before.
All travels have secret destinations of which the traveler knows nothing. (Original, in Spanish: Todos los viajes tienen destinos secretos sobre los que el viajero nada sabe.)
Travel isn’t always pretty. It isn’t always comfortable. Sometimes it hurts, it even breaks your heart. But that’s OK. The journey changes you; it should change you. It leaves marks on your memory, on your consciousness, on your heart, and on your body. You take something with you. Hopefully, you leave something good behind.
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.
