During the height of COVID-19 lockdowns with no end in sight, 1 King West Hotel & Residence proved to be the perfect place in the city to get away without actually going anywhere. And even 2 years later, it remains an ideal spot for both staycationers and vacationers alike, whether for a weekend or an extended stay.
One of Toronto’s most highly acclaimed boutique hotels, 1 King West exudes understated luxury and is recognized for its suites and amenities.
Centrally located at Yonge & King, 1 King West is the ideal place for visitors and staycationers to fully experience the city. Just steps away from the city’s financial, shopping, and entertainment districts as well as many popular restaurants and main attractions, guests are immersed in the heart of downtown Toronto with extensive options for things to see, do, and explore.
I stayed in a Tower suite, and would recommend others do the same if only for the view. (And for the luxury of an apartment-like suite!)
Tip: Request a room on the highest possible level.
My spacious Tower suite included a bathroom, bedroom, separate living area, workspace, and kitchenette. A highlight was the expansive windows, extending from the bedroom all the way around the room to the kitchenette and offering almost panoramic city views, including of the harbourfront and of course the CN Tower.
At the time of my stay, the hotel was unable to offer some of the services it has since been able to reintroduce (e.g., room service, housekeeping) given the pandemic restrictions in place. However, to the extent that they could, hotel staff went above and beyond to ensure that guests were made as comfortable and safe as possible during such an uncertain time, and they upheld/enforced health measures with professionalism. Providing sanitation kits (masks, gloves, sanitizer, wipes, etc.) was such a simple but thoughtful touch, and one that I’ve remembered and appreciated ever since!
Luckily, for the most part, things are back to normal for guests and regular services have long since resumed. Meaning that 1 King West visitors can benefit from the hotel’s luxury amenities, including its rooftop fitness centre, private limousine services and valet parking, and in-room dining.
Whether you decide to take advantage of in-room dining or grab a meal at the restaurant itself, the hotel’s gourmet eatery Teller’s Bistro & Bar is a must-try! (I remember this meal fondly.)
All that to say, 1 King West Hotel & Residence is an ideal place to stay when visiting or staycationing in Toronto. It’s central location and luxury amenities set it apart from other boutique hotels in the city. Despite not having access to all of the hotel’s amenities during my stay, I had a great experience there. And with that in mind, I’m confident that future guests’ experiences will be even more satisfactory.
