Past Meets Present at Hotel William Gray

07/07/2019

The first time I visited Montreal was in April 2016. Many people don’t know this, but it was during that visit that I decided to start my travel Instagram account! Just over 3 years of Insta-blogging later, for my second visit, I was granted the opportunity to stay in the city in partnership with Booking.com and Hotel William Gray–a luxury boutique hotel nestled in the centre of Old Montreal. Keep reading for an overview of the hotel and a little gift for your next hotel booking!

The Room.

We enjoyed a 2-night stay in one of the hotel’s Standard King Rooms. The room was cozy and featured a comfortable king-sized bed, a sitting chair and table, a cute view of the inner lounge area (where they light the fire pits at night!), and a large bathroom with a walk-in shower. It also had a long desk along the wall in front of the bed. If you’re planning on doing some work during your stay, it’s great to have this area as your work space.

The Hotel.

Hotel William Gray boasts the perfect balance between old historic architecture and modern design. The hotel’s design focus is evident throughout the hotel, from its rooms to its lounge areas and restaurant.

One thing I really appreciated about staying at Hotel William Gray was the open and impressive design of its interior spaces. Literally everywhere you turn is an instagrammable spot (which I think says a lot =P)! On the ground floor, just past the lobby and elevators, is the Living Room. This space includes a bar, a pool table, a library and a long coffee table. Whether you want to sit and enjoy a beverage or pull out your laptop and get to work, this area is the perfect spot! Taking the staircase from the Living Room, you can access the outdoor lounge on the floor above. Cozy indoor seating on this floor overlooks the living room area–directly above which hangs a beautiful light installation that brightens up the entire space.

Spa William Gray

Although I didn’t get to book any spa treatments during my stay, I did get to visit the outside pool for some photos. Pool access is restricted to spa guests, so I would definitely recommend taking advantage of it if you decide to visit the spa!

I loved the charm and privacy of the pool area. It’s almost hidden away within the walls of the hotel, but open to the outdoors. One of its walls is that of Maison William Gray, which gives it a really unique historic touch! I also found that it was pretty quiet, with only a couple of guests visiting at a time.

If you’re planning a stay at Hotel William Gray or even just visiting in the city, consider treating yourself to some luxurious and exclusive spa treatments! The spa staff are also extremely helpful and friendly, and will no doubt make your experience an extra-relaxing one! Click here to check out Spa William Gray’s treatment menu and special offers.

Terrasse William Gray

A must-do while in Montreal, whether staying at Hotel William Gray or elsewhere, is to make reservations at Terrasse William Gray. This rooftop terrace offers sweeping (and dare I say, the best) views of the city. Hotel guests and other Montreal tourists flock to this terrace for its epic views, so make sure not to miss out!

The Location.

Hotel William Gray is nestled in the centre of Old Montreal and close to a number of popular shops, restaurants and tourist spots. For example, the main streets and shops of Old Montreal, Old Port, Place Jacques-Cartier and Basilique Notre Dame are all in perfect walking distance from the hotel. It’s definitely in the perfect location for exploring the old town by foot!

Overall.

My stay at Hotel William Gray was short but definitely sweet! Aside from its stunning design, I loved being in the heart of the old town–we were in the middle of all the action and really able to take our time exploring the area. Keep in mind that staying here is a bit of a splurge, with hefty nightly rates even for small rooms–although it makes sense considering that it’s a boutique/design-focused hotel in the heart of the old town.

Although we did experience a couple of hiccups in terms of service (e.g., housekeeping coming into our room while I was changing despite the privacy light being on; failure at the front desk to follow up on some of our questions), some very kind and helpful hotel staff made up for it!

More importantly, my experience using Booking.com to reserve our stay was quick, easy and seamless. I had used Booking.com a few times before, saving hundreds of dollars on my Utah accommodations in June 2019. Given my previous positive experience with the site, I jumped at the opportunity to work with Booking.com on this visit to Montreal and to offer YOU a small *gift*:

Follow my link (here), valid until the end of September 2019, to receive CAD$40 BACK on your next Booking.com stay! All you have to do is follow the link and book! That’s it–your reward will be processed to your original method of payment upon check-out!
